Despite progress, there is still a great need for infectious disease control worldwide.

Infectious diseases, also known as communicable diseases, are caused by microorganisms that can spread from one person to another both directly and indirectly.

COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic is an unrivaled scientific and global health challenge.

HIV

Despite the progress, there are still roughly 38 million people worldwide living with HIV. More research is needed to help eradicate this deadly virus.

CMV

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a virus that many people have without knowing they have it. Nearly 1 in 3 children (33%) get it by age 5 and over half (50%) of adults get it by age 40, so it’s important to continue research for CMV.

HPV

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are the most widespread and common sexually transmitted infections worldwide. More than 80% of sexually active women and men will acquire at least one HPV infection by the age of 45.
